opposites

Everything has it’s opposite.  you can’t have one thing without the other. THEREFORE, making a value judgment on one thing would be assuming that it’s counterpart is of different value.  This can’t make sense because how can the moon be more valuable than the sun?  It’s all relative of course.  I believe this explains why a rich man can give away money and possessions but still be at square one.  we’ve made value judgments on about everything our eyes come into contact with.  The reflex to judge has been seemingly injected into our veins.

This presents a problem and clouds our vision in being able to interpret this world.  Since everything has an opposite this means you must appreciate both things equally and accept them for what they are.  This kind of thought erases the possibility of whether or not something can be good or bad and allows you to see it in it’s true light.  That’s why doing “good” doesn’t work half the time. Trying to understand something before making a judgment completely reverses the process and simplifies everything.  Think about your family.  You’ve known these people your whole life.  You’ve grown  to understand them and accept them for exactly what they are.  Value judgments become less important because in the beginning you never judged.  As a kid you just took things as they are.  You don’t understand it, but understanding comes in time. This quote from bruce lee explains this a easier than i can at the moment.  “Before I learned martial arts, a punch was just a punch and a kick was just a kick. When I studied martial arts, a punch was no longer just a punch and a kick was no longer just a kick. Now I understand martial arts, and a punch is just a punch and a kick is just a kick.”. Everything comes full circle.

Looking at life like this has changed my perspective.  I’ve been able to make different decisions based on a more clear mind.  I’ve been able to set goals for myself and take my time away from the superfluous and focus on finding things that work with what i want to do.  First of all, change comes from within.  That being said, you must believe in yourself that you have the answer to your dreams.  Having a lack of confidence won’t help here for you’ll realize that you are trying to find who you are through other people, things, and ideas.  Look inside yourself and realize you create your own life.  Never give yourself up.
